The Vintage View
Volumn 1, Issue 1, April 2009
OPEN HOUSE - MAY 8th and 9th, 2009
3 Years and The Building is COMPLETE!
Built in 1891, the Church exterior before renovations. The Church Building after renovations, February 2009
We have been working for the past 3 years on renovating this building so we can manufacture and store our PRIMITIVE SOY CANDLES, and provide a large open "Workshop" to offer various classes. It has been a very big undertaking. The building (The Church) built in 1891, required major renovation. JoAnne Munson, The Vintage Vestibule co-owner, had a Vision for the end result. The renovation is finally completed on Sunday, February 8, 2009, with the last square inch scrubbed, primed, stained, caulked and/or spackled. FINALLY!!!! It is finished with the combined efforts of everyone in The Vintage Vestibule Family.
We scrubbed, on our hands and knees, 1400 square feet of floor space. In addition, 3040 linear feet of floor cracks were cleaned with a wire brush and then caulked. Next, the 1400 square feet of floor is primed and painted. The vision is to keep the rustic wood floor intact.
1400 SQ FT of floor scrubbed, primed, painted, and caulked. and 1550 SQ FT (5860 Linear Ft) Wall cracks and knot holes spackled
The interior walls, about 1550 square feet, of plaster is removed with crow bars, revealing rustic wood. The process required renting a huge lift, driving inside the building and removing piece by piece the plaster. Plaster is also removed from the ceiling, about 1350 square feet. The vision, once again, has been to work with the rustic wood in hopes of preserving the vintage nature of the building. There is about 5860 linear feet of wall cracks and numerous knot holes filled with spackling. The walls were then primed, and/or stained.
THE INSIDE OF THE BUILDING IS FINALLY FINISHED AND THE VISION IS BECOMING A REALITY!!!!
THE VINTAGE VESTIBULE WORKSHOP
The Vintage Vestibule Workshop will be used to offer a variety of classes for our customers. The area set up for the workshop, "The Vestibule", will provide large working space where materials can be spread out and projects shaped.
The Vestibule will also display our PRIMITIVE SOY CANDLE collection, and a variety of hand-selected accessories. You will be able to find baskets, wreaths, signs, candle rings, candle plates, room sprays, pictures, and hand-made greeting cards. Our customers will be able to select any combination of items and create their very own gift packages, complete with a hand-made card. With our first OPEN HOUSE MAY 8-9, 2009, it's just in time for Mother's Day!
